A guide on how to distinguish previous versions of Hana heads.
Tonocha Hana was first created with premium air-dry clay in April 2018. I sent off the primed clay head for resin casting in the hope of refining and revising the resin copy. Ten copies of the head were cast. I gave away a few heads to my doll friends. This is Version 1 of the Hana head. Version 1 was never publicly offered.
Version 2 – Preorder Nov. 2018
The first public preorder for Hana head happened in Oct. 2018. Version 2 Hana was offered for this preorder. V2 Hana has a smoother finish and softer look compared to V1, however, structurally unchanged. Only one resin color was offered, which was the “2017 Fairyland Normal Skin” as normal/peach skin.
Version 2 heads come in a matte finish PVC box stamped with a holographic Tonocha sticker. The CoA is printed on a semi-transparent plastic card. The order number is hand-written in gold ink.
Version 3 – Preorder Jul. 2019
Version 3 Hana has an upgraded head-back with better-looking necklines. Version 3 Hana’s head-backs and faceplates were held together by two magnets instead of one, creating a stronger hold in between. Hana’s name was also stamped on the inside of the faceplate. Four resin tones were offered during this pre-order: Cream, Peach, Coffee, and Choco. Peach skin was still matched to Fairyland Normal.

V3 Color Guide:
- – Cream was similar to Dollzone White Skin
- – Peach was color-matched to Fairyland Normal Skin
- – Coffee was similar to Soom Tan
- – Choco was similar to iPopo Tan
Version 3 heads are stamped with metallic Tonocha plates on the inside. They come in the same packaging as the version 2 heads. They are packaged matte finish PVC boxes stamped with a holographic Tonocha sticker. The CoA is printed on a semi-transparent plastic card. The order number is hand-written in gold ink.
This wraps up the story of clay Hana. In 2020, I renewed the full line of Tonocha dolls to a digital format.
